Val Bakaushin is a Data Associate (SAS programmer) at Dobson | DaVanzo and has nearly 30 years of experience in applying mathematical modeling and statistical techniques to health care-related issues. Since joining Dobson | DaVanzo, Mr. Bakaushin has worked on several projects for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) such as a Part D claims analysis to support the Agency in developing measures to examine opioid overdose and opioid use disorder trends. He also supports a CMS project to analyze Medicare Part C and D plan compliance with reporting requirements. He is currently building a comprehensive Medicaid claims dataset to assess the impact of opioid misuse on excess healthcare expenditures in the State Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bakaushin spent more than 19 years with a government contractor where he served as a programmer and analyst for several Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) projects, Center for Studying Health System Change (HSC) projects, as well as projects for the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC).
Val earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanics and Engineering from the Institute of Aviation Engineering (Riga, Latvia)
