Dobson | DaVanzo & Associates, LLC is a health economics and policy consulting firm based in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The work of our principals has influenced the design of demonstrations and many public policy decisions, and appears in numerous instances in legislation and regulation. Our litigation support efforts have helped courts, plaintiffs, and defendants understand the economic value of various health care issues.
Our research helps payers and providers develop, implement and evaluate equitable payment methodologies. We are at the forefront of using administrative data sets to explore payment bundling and other CMS initiatives. We apply decades of experience, access to a broad range of policymakers and subject matter experts, and innovative research techniques in order to best meet our clients’ needs. Our analyses are rigorous and objective, and make use of a variety of public and private-sector data sources.
We have provided testimony to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), U.S. Treasury, as well as members of Congress, State legislatures and numerous stakeholder groups.
The firm consists of nine seasoned consultants: Allen Dobson, Ph.D., Joan DaVanzo, Ph.D., M.S.W., and Audrey El-Gamil, all of whom worked together at The Lewin Group for many years. Steven Heath, M.P.A. brings ten years of experience in data management and quantitative policy analysis, specializing in the long term care sector. Greg Berger joined Dobson | DaVanzo in May 2009 and brings experience working with the nonprofit organization, Public Citizen. After working with Drs. Dobson and DaVanzo at the Lewin Group for several years, Jean Freeman joined Dobson | DaVanzo in 2010. She has over twenty years experience in both the public and private sectors, specializing in governance, management, and communication. Anne Pick and Jinglin Wang joined the firm in the summer of 2011. Ms. Pick comes to the firm with expertise in health policy, public health, stakeholder outreach, and media relations. Ms. Wang brings a wide range of expertise in quantitative methods and analyses. Matthew Shimer, Ph.D. joined Dobson | DaVanzo in December 2011 as an Associate. He brings experience in analyzing and managing large data bases and investigating highly correlated and disordered systems.
